New in 2008! Ages 16-18 (Four Weeks)
Are you a high school student interested in working at camp? Are you looking for a different kind of challenge this summer? Anyone ages 15 to18 can apply to become a part of a unique leadership training program for young people with a passion for the outdoors and working with children. Conservation Leadership is our new Field Teacher –training program where motivated high school students can develop the outdoor skills, leadership, and teaching tools needed to become a Field Teacher at camp. Mentored and supervised by senior staff members, Conservation Leaders will live in wall tents at their own campsite, and will spend the first two weeks building their skill-set, and meeting personal and group challenges. The course will even include First Aid and CPR training. Don’t worry, there will be plenty of fun times too, including swimming, day hikes and canoe trips, and nights “off” with group trips to the movies or out for pizza. Gradually, Conservation Leaders will be given responsibility for tasks such as helping to supervise meals, and leading activities with campers. In the final week, successful Conservation Leaders will be placed as full-fledged Field Assistants working with a group of students, and with the potential for future paid work.
