Bryant Pond 4-H Camp

Maine DEP auction raises over $2000 for Maine Conservation School summer camp scholarships.

Bryant Pond, ME – June 13, 2006 – The Maine Department of Environmental Protection has donated the proceeds of their annual Earth Day Auction to the Maine Conservation School summer camp scholarship fund. The auction, held at the Maple Hill Farm Bed and Breakfast Inn and Conference Center, in Hallowell, raised $2100.00 this year.

The auction includes items such as: handmade birdhouses, baked goods (whoopee pies bring in top dollar!), home-brewed beer, composted manure, all donated by DEP employees and families.

Stacy Ladner, organizer of the annual event writes, “It is our pleasure to send you a check for $2,100 in proceeds from the 2006 DEP Earth Day Auction.  Your organization does such valuable work; we enjoy knowing that our contribution helps in some small way”.

For 50 years, the Maine Conservation School's camp and school programs have introduced children and adults to a unique blend of outdoor fun, environmental education, and practical outdoor skills. The MCS Summer Camp season begins June 25th and runs though August 25th. Programs vary from one to four weeks in length.
