University of Maine 4-H Camp & Learning Center at Bryant Pond

Exploring Maine 's geology and gemstone connections have long been a favored pastime for Maine residents and visitors. Our location in the western foothills of Maine places the Maine Conservation right in the middle of the action, both past and present. This program will show the wonders of Maine from the bedrock up to the glacial "leftovers" on the mountaintops as we lead you on an actual tour of our local geology discussing the formation of nearby Bryant Pond and the surrounding mountains to a tour of a local Feldspar, Mica and Beryl producing mine. Collect in several old mine dump areas and hunt for a prize Rose Quartz or Beryl specimen.
