Trapping has been a part of Maine tradition for hundreds
of years. This legacy continues at the Maine Conservation
School as we introduce you to the skills and knowledge to
responsibly trap fur-bearing animals and provide basic knowledge
of how to move wisely and safely in the Maine woods. In
partnership with the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries
and Wildlife, MCS offers TRAPPER EDUCATION
as an on-campus, hands-on experience that will include instruction
in proper trapping equipment and use, responsible trap setting,
the importance of good wildlife management practices, and
habits and traits of furbearers. Trapping laws, responsibilities,
emergencies, survival, and personal safety will also be
covered.
