Bryant Pond 4-H Camp

Maine Conservation School offers weekend ATV Safety Course July 7 – July 9, 2006

Bryant Pond, ME – May 10, 2006 – The Maine Conservation School is offering a weekend long ATV safety program as the first of several weekend programs. This program will introduce ATV riders to the skills and knowledge necessary to ride wisely and safely in the Maine woods.

In partnership with the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, MCS offers an on-campus, hands-on experience that will teach how to properly operate and maintain an ATV.  ATV specific laws, rider ethics & responsibilities, landowner relations, emergencies, survival, and personal safety will also be covered. The program runs from Friday evening to Sunday morning, lodging and meals are provided.

“As the number of ATV drivers continues to increase, so does their impact on Maine’s public and private open space. The safe, responsible use of Maine’s fields, forests and trails will help keep them open for all who enjoy the privilege of their use,” says MCS Executive Director, Scott Olsen.

For 50 years, the Maine Conservation School's camp and school programs have introduced children and adults to a unique blend of outdoor fun, environmental education, and practical outdoor skills. The MCS Summer Camp season begins June 25th and runs though August 25th. Programs vary from one to four weeks in length.
