  Each year we offer this four-week program to a select group of young outdoors people.  The crowning achievement of our Woodscraft Path, the Junior Maine Guide program at Bryant Pond is a demanding training course which prepares students to excel at the Maine State JMG testing encampment.  To pass the test, candidates must demonstrate competence in outdoor skills and knowledge including canoe handling and safety, shelter and fire building, map and compass, Maine geography, first aid, backcountry cooking, and tree identification.  While many camps offer Junior Maine Guide programs, ours is a field-based course.  Under the supervision of Registered Maine Guides, candidates plan and carry out multi-day canoe and backpack trips, where skills are daily tested by real outdoor challenges.
