Junior Maine Woodscraft is a fun-filled week of camping, group challenge and outdoor skills that serves as an introductory experience or a follow-up to Conservation Camp or Natural Explorer. JMW groups set up camp at the beginning of the week, and gradually become self-sufficient, cooking their meals and going on mini-expeditions (day hikes and canoe trips). Field Teachers set a tone of safe, fun exploration and group building amid the beauty of the Maine Woods in summer. At the end of the week, campers who have demonstrated a positive attitude and desire to learn are awarded a patch and encouraged to advance to the Maine Woodscraft program.
